Mailchimp is a widely used freemium marketing platform that, among other features, allows you to manage an email mailing list for free. You can use your MooTunes website to collect email addresses for your Mailchimp mailing list.

Get Mailchimp Ready

You’ll need to create a Mailchimp account and at least one audience (mailing list) to add your fans to. Go here for Mailchimp’s documentation.

Add an API Key to MooTunes

If you haven’t already, you’ll need to create an API key in Mailchimp. An API key is essentially a password that software can use to access your MailChimp account. You can create or copy your API Keys here.

From your site’s admin, go to the Options>Integrations page. Copy and paste your API Key into the API Key field under Mailchimp Settings, and click Update.

Adding Sign-Up Forms to Your Website

There are four locations you can sign users up to your mailing lists.

On the checkout page

What better place for users to sign up than when they are buying your music? In the Mailchimp settings on your site’s Options>Integrations page, select the Audience you want to add your users to and customize the Label as you like, then click “Update”. A checkbox will now appear when users checkout.

In content created with the WordPress Editor

In your site’s admin, go to Mailchimp>Opt-in Forms. Give the form a name and select an audience, then click “Create”. You can then add and reorder form fields. Once your done, click “Update Form”. You will now be able to add the form to any page or post you like by adding the “Easy Forms for Mailchimp” block.

In content created with the Divi Builder (such as the Home Page)

Add the “Email Optin” module to the page. Under “Email Account” select the list you want to add users to, and under “Fields” add an reorder your Fields. For more information, look at Elegant Theme’s documentation on the Email Optin Module. Note that some settings do not work on MooTunes, and you need to add an API Key on the Options page first.

On the sidebar

In your site’s admin, go to Mailchimp>Opt-in Forms. Give the form a name and select an audience, then click “Create”. You can then add and reorder form fields. Once your done, click “Update Form”. You will now be able to add the form to the sidebar by adding the “Easy Mailchimp Forms” widget. See Adding a Sidebar to learn more.
